2025: My Year on the Trail

I love being outdoors. Close to nature, enjoying the fresh air, just breathing it all in.

I think this started for me when I was a little kid. I grew up on a farm, running around and exploring with my cousins. We would leave the house as soon we woke up and only come inside for meals or when our parents told us we had to.

Then, when I was old enough to join Scouts, I discovered hiking. I have no idea how many miles I've logged through the years, but I've seen a lot of sights by way of trail. Some of my best memories have been made in the woods.

These days, I spend most of my time behind a desk, using my keyboard to pay the bills. But lately, I've made a point to get back to the activity that I've loved for so long. Every Sunday morning for the past couple of months, I've hit the trail for a couple of hours, and I think it's been really good for me -- both mentally and physically.

So, as we get ready to turn the page on a new year, I've made a goal to hike 300 miles in 2025. It's not all that ambitious -- less than 6 miles a week -- but it's enough to keep me active and connected to the outdoors.

This blog will be my hiking journal. I'll share my perspectives about the trails I walk, pictures I capture, what I think about, and the things I see along the way. It's really for me, but if you're reading this, I hope you enjoy it, too.

See you on the trail in 2025!
